Description
Northern Saw-whet owls can weigh from 54 to 151 g (1.9 to 5.3 oz) with an average of around 80 g (2.8 oz),[5][6] making them one of the smallest owls in North America.[7] In relative size to other owls they are close to the size of an American Robin. They are called Saw-whet owls because of the sound they make like a wet saw. It's hard to imagine what that must sound like, isn't it?
My research into owls inspired me to illustrate this scene. Imagine discovering these tiny, cute owls and they see you for the first time too. I gave them expressions that depict their nature. I call this Serendipity because it refers to a happy discovery, both for the viewer and them. For a birthday greeting card this would be humorous to send with the words, "Happy Bird Day" written inside. It would also make a great gift as a framed picture.
